Appearances[edit | edit source]

Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride[edit | edit source]

Mr. Briscoletti is first seen during the Prologue when Pankraz and his son are disembarking at Littlehaven. He briefly introduces his daughter Nera to the two, but was unable to introduce his other daughter, Debora, as she had scurried off to the cabin. He is not seen again until after the first timeskip, when the Hero learns that he is in possession of the Zenithian shield. He is only willing to part with it to a man that marries his daughter Nera - and to that end, tasks all potential suitors with retrieving both the Circle of Fire and the Circle of Water to prove their worth.

Once the Hero has retrieved both rings, Rodrigo is impressed and allows him to marry his daughter. However, when Nera notices the Hero's friend Bianca, she wonders if he'd rather marry her. Mr. Briscoletti asks him to choose, agreeing to finance the wedding in either case. Before the Hero can make a decision, Debora arrives at the last minute and offers herself as a bride. Once the bride is chosen, the wedding is held and Mr. Briscoletti presents both the shield and a ship as wedding presents.

In the third generation, when the Hero and his twin children arrive in Mostroferrato, they discover Rodrigo is in a panic. He explains that his ancestor Rudolph sealed away a demon in a nearby shrine over a century ago, and that said demon is about to emerge. Atop the lookout tower La Guardia, they see the demon Bjørn the Behemoose emerge and approach the town. While Mr. Briscoletti runs off to prepare for battle, the Hero and the party manage to defeat the demon before he can cause any damage.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit | edit source]

The Luminary and co. can visit the Briscoletti mansion via Tickington's Echo Chamber in the Nintendo Switch version or Definitive Edition of the game. Upon selecting the mansion on the Altar of the Heaventy Bride, the party will be transported to the mansion on the eve of the wedding day. They will find that all three brides in the mansion have been turned into a copy of Rodrigo. Because the Hero ( of Dragon Quest V) is away at the moment, the wedding has not yet fallen to disaster, but the source of the dopplegangers must be dealt with.

Rodrigo explains that a monster that his great-grandfather Rodolfo sealed away must have gotten loose, and asks the party to slay the monster to undo the curse it must have placed on the household. The maid explains that she heard that the creature wants to reinvent itself, which tips the Luminary into realising that it has sulked off to Alltrades Abbey.

Once the monster is dealt with, returning to the mansion will show that the potential brides have returned to normal, and Rodrigo rewards the Luminary with a gold bar and a choice between two chests. However, the chest on the right is locked, and the player is forced to choose the left chest, which holds 2000g. The other chest is implied to contain the ring for the wedding.

Afterwards, Rodrigo asks the player to have a mock wedding to ensure everything is perfect for the actual day, and the player can choose one of their party members to be their 'bride' for the quest. Henceforth, the player can choose to have as many rehearsals with the cast as they would like.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • In Dragon Quest XI, when it comes time to choose the pretend bride, it is possible for the Luminary to approach Rodrigo himself for some amusing dialogue. While flattered, he declines the Hero's hand in marriage.
