The Maw of the Necrogond is a cave in the overworld of Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation.
The cave connects to the Necrogond Shrine, which is the location of the Silver Orb.

The cave is notable for its high level of difficulty compared to locations visited prior to it, befitting its status as the final dungeon of the overworld. Winding paths, pitfalls, and strong monsters wage a war of attrition on the party's resources and it is not uncommon for players to be forced to retreat on their first attempt through the cavern.

- 1F, 4F and B1F are used respectively as 1F, 2F and 6F of Cloudsgate Citadel.
Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake[edit | edit source]
The Maw has been enlarged to a truly cavernous size but retains the same layout. The hallway of statues has been changed to a bridge over a chasm with titanic suits of armour crossing their swords, and there is a friendly mimic and troll waiting to be rescued from the dire abyss.
