List of vocations in Dragon Quest X
This article is about Dragon Quest X (or part of it), which has not been officially localised in English yet.
Official localised names will be used whenever there is one. Please note though that, if there is none, unofficial terms would get used.
There are currently 25 vocations in Dragon Quest X . However, since the game is online and frequently receives updates, the number of vocations keeps increasing every now and then.
The system is very similar to the one in Dragon Quest IX, having the same first twelve vocations, and a similar level and skill points progression system. (See List of vocations in Dragon Quest IX)
Available vocations[edit | edit source]
The player originally starts with one vocation out of the 6 initial ones, being:
After that, the player is able to take on specific quests to unlock more vocations, being:
- Gladiator
- Paladin
- Armamentalist
- Ranger
- Sage
- Luminary
- Monster Wrangler
- Item Master
- Dancer
- Fortune Teller
- Druid
- Gadabout
- Death Master
- Demon Swordsman
- Pirate
- Guardian
- Dragomancer
- Hermit
- Storm Kaiser
Changing vocations[edit | edit source]
Unlike previous entries, the player does not need to reach Alltrades Abbey to change vocations in this game. Instead, they need to talk to any priest NPC that's sent by Alltrades Abbey. They are found at any tavern.
However, to first change vocation, they need to clear a specific quest to unlock the feature.
Vocation progression[edit | edit source]
Much like in Dragon Quest IX, the player's level progression is not tied to the character but to each vocation. Each time the player changes their vocation, they'll go back to the level that vocation had.
Also like in IX, leveling up grants Skill Points. However, unlike IX, the Skill Points are not shared between each vocation. Each vocation has a set of skills, based on the weapons they can use, and one unique skill specific to that vocation. The weapon-based skills are unique by vocation, as they might slightly change between vocations. The vocation unique skill will have shared passives, and may have a few shared abilities as well.
