Appearances[edit | edit source]

Dragon Quest X [edit | edit source]

The Brigandine has a Defence bonus of +23, a Style bonus of +8, increases the wearer's Weight by 12, and has an equipment level of 35. It can be equipped by Warriors, Thieves, Rangers, Gladiators, Monster Masters, Demon Swordsmen, Pirates, and Armamentalists if they have invested enough skill points into their Fource skill.

The entire set consists of the brigandine, the brigand bottoms, a headband, the brigand's mitts, and boots. If all five pieces are equipped, the wearer gains a +25 bonus to Style. It can be crafted by an armour blacksmith. Starting with Version 6.2, the amount of materials required to make one were reduced, making it easier to craft. Previously, it required five lumps of silver ore, three faerie flames, two hardy hides, and a brace of buzzberries.

The Brigandine has an Defence bonus of +27, a Magical Mending bonus of +13, a Deftness bonus of +7, a Charm bonus of +19, and increases the wearer's resistance to instant death by 10%. It can be equipped by the Hero as a Warrior, Thief, Gladiator, or Ranger, as well as Hussar, Duston, and Anlucia. It can be purchased for 4,800 gold or crafted with the Fun-Size Forge.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Brigandine is a type of body armour from the Middle Ages. It is a garment made from heavy fabric, such as canvas or leather, that is lined internally with steel plates riveted onto the fabric. Brigandine is much more flexible than armour made from large plates as the overlapping plates offer a degree of movement. It has a double meaning as the armour is said to be favoured by brigands and thieves.
  • The brigandine's original Japanese name, Banded chain (バンデッドチェイン, Bandeddo chein), has a double meaning as the word "banded" has a similar pronunciation to the word "bandit" (バンデット, bandetto) in Japanese. This is also the origin of the Bandit mail's name.
