The Gryphon is a monster in the series.

Characteristics

The gryphon is a monster with the lower body of a lion that has the head and large wings of an eagle. The eagle half of their body has red-orange plumage while the lion half of their body has dull brown fur. They have white fur around their necks, a third eye on their foreheads, and a long purple tongue sticking out of their golden beaks. They use their sharp claws to violently grab at their opponents. The monsters have extremely sensitive hearing and despise the incantations of spellcasters, leading to their frequent use of Fizzle to drown out the noise. Their Japanese name サイレス (Sairesu, サイレス^?) is derived from the English word" silence", owing to its use of the Fizzle spell and sensitive ears.

Gryphon appears as a B-rank monster of the Demon family as part of the original Dragon Quest VI event. It can be recruited from Chapter 3, Episode 3: The Shrine of Scales of the event quests at any difficulty, eventually being recruitable from Chapter 3, Episode 4: Percusso Library in the third part of the main storyline. The gryphon can participate in the Battle Roads of the Low djinks, Sintaur, and Dark Armour Spear Hyunckel as a party member.
