Critical Claim is a skill in the series.
Characteristics[edit | edit source]
An ability that launches a guaranteed Critical Hit against a single enemy, which ignores both dodging and blocking. It originally debuted as the Warrior's Coup de Grâce in Dragon Quest IX, before becoming a normal skill starting with Dragon Quest XI. To compensate for this, it will typically cost a large amount of MP to use.
Appearances[edit | edit source]
Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake[edit | edit source]
Critical Claim costs 64 MP to use and deals a guaranteed critical hit to a single enemy. It can be learned by the Prince of Midenhall, Princess of Moonbrooke, or Princess of Cannock by using a Critical Claim Scroll. The scroll can be received as a reward by defeating Xenlon within a certain number of turns and selecting the wish "Learn a Damage-Dealing Ability". Multiple scrolls can be obtained by defeating Xenlon more than once.
Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake[edit | edit source]
Critical Claim costs 64 MP to use and deals a guaranteed critical hit to a single enemy, much like in Dragon Quest XI. It can be learned by a Martial Artist starting at Level 47 if their Wisdom exceeds 142. The ability can be used with any weapon equipped. If the player sets their Tactics to "Show No Mercy", it will prioritise using Critical Claim on metal slimes.
| Game | Description |
| A dream ability that can ensure a critical hit on an enemy.[1] |
Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies[edit | edit source]
Critical Claim is a Coup de Grâce for Warriors. The user swings a sword of light down on the opponent, dealing a guaranteed critical hit, making it very useful for hunting metal slimes.
Dragon Quest X [edit | edit source]
Critical Claim returns as a special move for the Warrior. Instead of a sword of light, Critical Claim is now displayed as a powerful punch. For versions 1.0~2.0 the ability had the same function as it did in IX, but as of the 2.1 update it now has a spread effect that damages monsters within half a meter of the selected target.
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit | edit source]
| Game | Description |
| A dream ability that can ensure a critical hit on the enemy.[2] |
Critical Claim costs 64 MP to use and deals a guaranteed critical hit to a single enemy. It can be learned by Erik for 20 skill points through the Guile panel in his Character Builder when it has been expanded in act two after defeating Gyldygga. It is located near the very top of his Character Builder. In 3D versions of the game, Critical Claim still resembles its Dragon Quest X iteration. However, in the 3DS version, the skill resembles the Dragon Quest IX iteration instead. Critical Claim can be combined with Divide in order to deal massive damage.
