Pressure Pointer is an ability in the Dragon Quest series. It may instantly kill an enemy, using the same resistance rates as whack.
Appearances[edit | edit source]
Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake[edit | edit source]
Pressure Pointer was retroactively added to the 2024 remake, where it can learned by Warriors upon reaching level 21 if their wisdom exceeds 39 points. It costs 4 MP and has a 25% chance to instantly kill the target, dealing 50% damage if the trick fails. Incredibly the skill ignores the affects of Dazzle and Sandstorm, as well as that of Oomph, Muster Strength, Egg On, Attack Attacker, Sap, & Kasap.
Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation[edit | edit source]
Pressure Pointer tries to inflict a fatal strike; if it fails it deals 50% melee damage instead. It can be learned by advancing to rank 6 of the Martial Artist vocation.
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past[edit | edit source]
Learned in the same way as VI and functions identically.
Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies[edit | edit source]
This ability is learned with 22 skill points invested into Spear skill. Unlike before, the skill now has a fixed slay rate of 1/8th, meaning the skills can work just fine on metal slimes.
