'''Kacrackle''' is a recurring ice spell in the {{DQSeries}}, typically the most powerful.
Introduced in {{Dragon Quest III}}, it originally hit a single group of enemies with fierce ice damage, but starting with {{V}}, it lacerates ''all'' enemies with enormous crystals.

In the Japanese games, ''Mahyado'' was replaced as the strongest ice spell in the Joker series of games by ''Mahyadedosu'' and eventually introduced in the main series of games starting with {{Dragon Quest IX}}. In the English versions of the games, Kacrackle was kept as the name of the strongest ice spell, while ''Mahyado'' would be translated as Kacrack in order to maintain its position as the second strongest ice spell in the game.
On older iterations, the spell マヒャド ''Mahyado'' was called Kacrackle. However, with later games, as they added a higher-tier spell マヒャドデス ''Mahyadodesu'', the name Kacrackle went for this one instead.<br>

Kacrackle is a recurring ice spell in the Dragon Quest series, typically the most powerful.

Localization history[edit | edit source]

On older iterations, the spell マヒャド Mahyado was called Kacrackle. However, with later games, as they added a higher-tier spell マヒャドデス Mahyadodesu, the name Kacrackle went for this one instead.
For past uses of Kacrackle, see Kacrack (Mahyado).

Appearances[edit | edit source]

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies[edit | edit source]

Learned by Mages at level 68. Impales all enemies with giant shards of ice for 50 MP. Base damage is 165~204 prior to the caster's Magical Might reaching 550, and the cap is 490~530 at 999.

When used by legacy bosses Kacrackle's power is calculated as (150+(Lvl^2/26))*(0.9~1.1), setting the base and max ranges as 190~210 and 474~579

Dragon Quest X [edit | edit source]

Kacrackle can only be learned by Mages investing 130 skill points into the Spellcraft skill tree and by Death Masters investing 180 points into their Reikan skill tree. It costs 24 MP to cast, and damage is calculated as (Magical Might - 400) x 0.71 + 362~402 for a base damage of 310~350 and maximum range of 790~830. With considerable use of spell and skill buffs, the caster's Magical Might can be raised to 1,500 and the calculation changes to the following: (Magical Might - 999) /3 + 790~830 for a true maximum of of 957~997.

When the player chooses to cast Kacrackle, they select a single monster to target. This enemy can be within a range of 15 meters, and any other enemies within a proximity of 7 meters from the target will also be damaged by the spell--greater distance within the 7 meter range does not decrease damage inflicted.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit | edit source]

Rab will learn kacrackle after mastering the Enlightenment section of his character builder. The spell is very expensive at 60 MP, but will deal 328~392 at its weakest and 688~752 once Rab's Magical Might reaches 900.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker[edit | edit source]

Kacrackle deals 190~210 base damage until the monster's Wisdom hits 500, and will do 299~319 with max Wisdom. It costs 36 MP to cast, and is learned from various skill trees.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2[edit | edit source]

Kacrackle has a base range of 190~210, a maximum range of 314~324, and is learned through the following skill sets in addition to those listed above:

Terry's Wonderland 3D & Iru and Luca's Marvelous Mysterious Key[edit | edit source]

Kacrackle costs 58 MP and deals 209~231 damage. It will deal 665~735 damage at 3,999 Wisdom.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3[edit | edit source]

Kacrackle has the same details as in in the previous two titles.

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince[edit | edit source]

Kacrackle costs 58 MP and is learned via the Aamon, Crack Virtuoso, Nelgel the Netherfiend, Perfect Speller, Polariser, and Zoma talents. It has a base power of 290 and will deal an average of 770 damage at 3,999 Wisdom.

Dragon Quest Tact[edit | edit source]

Kacrackle can be learned by Zoma, The Lord of Darkness at level 82 and costs 160 MP to use. It inflicts huge Crack-type spell damage to all enemies in a large rhombus area directly in front of him. Upgrading the skill increases its damage and reduces the amount of MP it costs to use.
