The Sage's robe is a robe in the series.

Characteristics[edit | edit source]

The sage's robe has seen three very different designs throughout the series history.

The original design from the Super Famicom version of Dragon Quest V is a golden robe that covered the wearer's entire body and included a hood. The edges are in a brownish-orange colour and there is a small green gem on the front of the collar. A rune or magic symbol is embroidered on the front of the robe.
The design from the remake versions of Dragon Quest V is a billowing lavender robe that has a golden chest piece inlaid with a green gem, a purple collar, and purple details at the end of the sleeves and the bottom hem.
The sage's robe from Dragon Quest IX has a design closer to those worn by religious officials, with a light blue inner robe, a white layer over it, and a darker blue mantle that encompasses the entire robe. It has golden trim and there is also a tippet in light blue and gold that hangs from the front. A silver medallion displaying the symbol of an owl is worn around the wearer's neck.

The Sage's robe has a Defence bonus of +50 and reduces damage taken from Frizz, Sizz, Crack, and Woosh spells by 15. It can be equipped by Bianca, Nera, the Daughter, Slime, Healslime, Metal slime, Liquid metal slime, Cureslime, King slime, King cureslime, and Man o' war. It can be purchased for 12,000 gold at Lofty Peak and can be sold for 9,000 gold (original version) or 6,000 gold (remakes).

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King[edit | edit source]

The Sage's robe has a Defence bonus of +55 and reduces damage taken from Frizz, Sizz, Crack, and Woosh spells by 25. It can only be equipped by Angelo. The robe can be sold for 11,000 gold. It can only be made in the Alchemy Pot and can be mixed to create a Crimson robe.
