Characteristics[edit | edit source]

A partisan or partizan is a type of polearm used in Europe from the 16th to 18th centuries that consisted of a sword-like spearhead mounted on a long wooden shaft, with protrusions on the side used to catching blades. It was occasionally used for hunting boars, as well.

  • The original design from Dragon Quest VIII has a golden shaft with blue sections and is topped with a large triangular spearhead.
  • The design introduced in Dragon Quest IX has a simple wooden shaft and a spearhead with three points like a trident. This design is used for nearly all other appearances.
