Khalamari is a large squid monster with a red body and a blue-purple top, first seen in Dragon Quest VIII.
It normally uses its tentacles, or Tentickles as it calls them, as puppets in front of ships. It is the fully matured form of the khalamari kid species. Its name is a reference to the seafood dish, calamari (squid).

Although temporarily transformed into a ferocious brute by Dhoulmagus' enchantments, Khalamari is actually quite a kind fellow at heart. At one time he planned to open his own comedy club.

Khalamari is the poisonous boss of the Unshore region, and can be scouted post-game. It has the powerful attack Tidal Wave, which can severely weaken or even knock out party members that are not immune to water. Khalamari speaks in a cockney accent, much like Yangus. The way to its lair inside a cave is blocked by several Tentickles, each of which must be defeated before the Scout can continue to approach and ultimately enter its lair.
