Dragon Quest the DIVE (ドラゴンクエスト the DIVE) is a temporary exhibition to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Dragon Quest series. It's title, "the dive", derives from the main attraction being an immersive experience that allows fans to dive into a VR Dragon Quest adventure, called "Dragon Quest VR RIDE". The DIVE also includes other activities and displays, like a small exhibition showcasing the serie's story or an area where visitors can discover how a few monsters feel to the touch.

Note that "Dragon Quest VR RIDE" is the second VR attraction in the series, following Dragon Quest VR.

Dragon Quest the DIVE will be held at the "Harakado Store" in Shibuya, Tokyo from June 17th through September 6th.

"Dragon Quest VR RIDE" runs on Meta Quest 3 headsets, and it lets visitors experience in the world of Dragon Quest in 360º. During the VR adventure, all heroes will be guided by Homita the healslime. In this VR attraction, visitors can enjoy riding on the back of a great sabrecat and fight popular monsters. Note that as VR headsets are not advised for children under the age of 10, a non-VR version of the ride will also be available.

The attraction also includes a tactile immersion facility which lets visitors discover the texture various monsters would have to the touch, like the skin of a slime, the warmth of a rockbomb, or fur of a teeny sanguini.

Two exihibtions exist inside the DIVE: a retrospective on the mainline series -from Dragon Quest I to Dragon Quest XII-, and a showcase of how the series was made, with original drawings from Yuji Horii, music sheets from Kōichi Sugiyama and original illustrations from Akira Toriyama. The series retrospective includes the concept art of the hero of Dragon Quest XII, drawn by Akira Toriyama.

Full-scale replicas of Erdrick's Sword, the Zenithian Sword and the Supreme Sword of Light will be displayed on the event. Visitors who purchase the most-expensive ticket, will receive enamel pins of the three swords.

Some other additional fun side activities include an inflatable king slime that visitors can hug, a chest for visitors to find and open, and a replica of the Mirror of Ra which adds a facial filter to those who look into it.

This attraction is a joint production between Square Enix and Tohokushinsha Film Corporation.
