Dragon Quest Day (ドラゴンクエストの日) is the annual celebration of the original Japanese release of Dragon Quest, held on May 27. Generally, Square Enix celebrates this day with announcement of new games, releases, special events, livestreams, and more.

2026 (40th anniversary)[edit | edit source]
Square Enix Japan held a 2-hour livestream in which they announced multiple merchandise collaborations to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the series. During this livestream, a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Dragon Quest XI was announced.
The company later posted a video on Youtube in which they unveiled the next mainline game: Dragon Quest XII: Beyond Dreams. Producer Yosuke Saito offered an explanation regarding the long development and rename of the project. Mr. Saito and Yuji Horii also teased the next installment of the monster-raising series subseries: Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World, starring Bianca and Nera from Dragon Quest V.
