The Metal king slime is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series. Introduced in Dragon Quest IV, it is a metallic version of the King slime that usually gives the greatest amount of Experience of any monster in the games it appears in, with very few exceptions.
Characteristics
As the name would suggest, Metal king slimes are King slimes of a metallic color. Their crowns are different in colour to that of the King slimes' as well, bearing shades of purple or blue.
Like all other metal monsters, Metal king slimes have extremely high defence and speed, give an absurd amount of Experience points when defeated, and often flee from battle instead of fighting. Their HP is much higher than that of most metal monsters, and they are also fairly competent when it comes to fighting, something that Metal slimes and Liquid metal slimes usually aren't.
Appearances
Metal king slimes share their first appearance with their variants, King slimes and King cureslimes. They do not appear until near the end of the game and are, in the original, NES release, the greatest source of Experience]] in the game: they lose this position to Platinum king jewels in the remakes.
The player can have Torneko randomly steal a Liquid metal helm. The chances of stealing one is low and the Metal king slime often runs away from battle. To prevent this, the player must have the Sands of time item in their possession and use it should Metal king slime run away, the sands will bring the Metal king slime back to the battle. The player can then have the other players defend while Torneko does his own move at random. Eventually he will steal the Liquid metal helm and will keep it regardless if Metal king slime runs away or gets defeated. This is much better way as the player no longer has to buy the Liquid metal helm which is 100,000 tokens.
Because their HP is so much higher than other metal monsters, it is usually recommended that Alena be used to fight them given her high Critical Hit ratio, which negates the monstrous defense of these metal globs.

Although metal king slimes can be encountered rarely in the Tower of Nod, most will likely be encountered in the depths of high-level cave, volcano, or water Grottoes. There are even a handful of maps with floors where only Metal king slimes can be encountered, the most famous of which is the Ruby Path of Doom Lv. 87, which was nicknamed the Masayuki map due to the original player who discovered it.
Metal king slimes, along with other members of the metal slime family in this game, only appears when fighting other monsters. Additionally, depending on the party's average level scale, the Pep Power Electro Light may replace enemies fought in a normal battle with Metal king slimes or their vicious versions.

Metal king slimes appear as rank S members of the Slime family and can be synthesized via quadrulinear synthesis using four Liquid metal slimes. Players can also attempt to scout them in Palaish Isle's metal menagerie, Tartarus during the post-game, and certain scouts that might use them, though in all instances the monsters can prove incredibly difficult to impress.
