Synopsis

The Glowering Inferno is a monster found in Burnmont in Emberdale. It collects the flame that the residents are throwing into the volcano as part of a plan to destroy the continent by causing an eruption. The party encounters him and he decides to destroy them. After he is defeated, the Glowering Inferno claims that his plan will still come to fruition as a black smoke rises from the vase that he was collecting the flames. However, the party uses the Holy Water given to them by Pike to avert the crisis.

Strategy

The Glowering Inferno's regular attack does ~15 HP if the party is properly equipped. He can charge the party which hits everyone, causing ~10 damage to everyone. FireAir will cause ~10 flame damage to everyone as well. Its most devastating attack is Chargeup where it will take a turn to charge up an attack. Its next attack will do double damage, depending on the attack it uses. The Glowering Inferno is resistant to flame attacks. So the player is advised not to use Kiefer's FireSlash and Maribel's Blaze.

Maribel should use Sap twice to remove its defenses. The Hero should use Upper on the party. Kiefer and the Hero should attack while Maribel should be the designated healer, attacking only when the party isn't hurting for heath. When the Glowering Inferno uses ChargeUp, the party should parry to lessen the damage done by the next attack.

As long as the party's health is sufficent, there should be no problem defeating the Glowering Inferno.

Etymology

The Glowering Inferno's name comes from the 1974 disaster film The Towering Inferno, a movie about an electrical short that starts a fire in one of the world's tallest buildings.
