The rockbomb shard is a recurring item in the Dragon Quest series. When thrown, it creates a small explosion that damages enemies.

Rockbomb shards can be purchased from item shops at later points in the game for 450 gold apiece.

Rockbomb shards can be purchased from item shops at Arcadia and Tryan Gully for 450 gold apiece.

Rockbomb shards can be harvested in regions such as the Gittish Empire. Aside from their usual use, they're also used min many alchemy recipes.
