The watermaul wand is a recurring weapon in the Dragon Quest series, first being a one handed staff before being reclassified as a two-hander in more recent games. Its effects have differed from title to title, but it is associated with the roaring ocean.
Appearances[edit | edit source]
Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation[edit | edit source]
The Watermaul wand has an Attack bonus of +74 and a Style bonus of +42. When used as an item, it casts Tidal Wave. Ashlynn, Nevan, and Terry can equip it. It is found in Poseidon's Palace, thought the Ultimate Key is required. It can also be bought for 14,000 gold coins in Felonia or sold for 10,500 gold coins. Lastly, thriller waves and killer waves drop them 1/256 of the time.
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past[edit | edit source]
The Watermaul wand has an Attack bonus of +74 and a Style bonus of +42. It can be equipped by the Hero, Maribel Mayde, and Sir Mervyn. In the PS1 version, if used as a tool in battle, it uses the Tsunami skill. However, in the 3DS version, it was upgraded to cast the Coral Grief spell in battle, due to the real-life tragedy of the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami.
It can be purchased from the Den of the Dwarves in the present for 14,000 gold coins and sold for 7,000 gold coins. One can also be found in the Den of the Dwarves in the past in the treasure room after lighting The Beacon.
Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies[edit | edit source]
