Converted the entire page into one for "Plains" which is the main area found in DQMTDP. The previous page title of Champion Cascade is misleading as it is a small sub area. The Gradely Grasslands page should be deleted for the same reason (link left in tack for now).. Provided discriptors of all zoom locations on the map as well as a section explaining all teh seasonal changes to the area. Monster list has been simplified to remove excess data and improve readability.

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince

Just down the worn path from Rosehill, The Plains are a pastoral mountain road flanked with towering natural arches that winds down from the highlands and past a roaring waterfall with accompanying lake. The path terminates into a large meadow down by a river known as Gradely Grasslands and a towering spiral cliffside is found to the meadows east.

This pleasant area serves as the game's training sector to get players accustomed to wrangling monsters, led on by the ever-energetic Fizzy. The player will become familiar with species representing five of the eight monster families, learn passing of the seasons and that it's well worth it to follow the trails left by the seasonal sprites, how changes in weather affect which monsters are present, and how to forage the natural resources for easy item accumulation. One sterner lesson is to not approach giant monsters flippantly, as the resident Cyclops is too much for any new player to handle.

Once she thinks Psaro is up to snuff, Fizzy will teach him the Zoom spell to easily access any of the sub areas in the Plains that the character has already visited.

Zoom Locations

  • Rosehill, Takes the player to the beginning of the map which directly links them back to Rosehill. This area is a small forest and hillsides containing the weakest monsters in the area
  • Champions Cascade, The area right in front of the massive waterfall, this area contains a secret cave behind the waterfall as well as the first set spawn for the Cyclops.
  • Gradely Grasslands, A big open plain in the center of the map with not much else
  • Windburnt Bluffs, The last area resulting in a spiral walkway up a cliffside with a smaller waterfall flowing though it. Home to a colony of Mischievous mole.

Seasonal Changes

  • Spring: Causes a large lotus flower to bloom on the west side river at Gradely Grasslands, this takes the player to a small Forest area where a treasure chest can be found.
  • Summer: Vines found on the side of small cliffs grow, allowing the player to clime up to find treasure and monsters usually out of reach.
  • Autumn: Piles of leaves appear across the map, containing either items when the player walks into them or monsters that will pop out and chase the player.
  • Winter: Freezes all the water in the area allowing the player to walk on the ice. This gives access to a cave behind the waterfall at Champions Cascade and entry into a Forest area at the northmost part of Windburnt Bluffs. Both areas containing treasure chest.
