The Northern Plains is a location in Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors.
The plains are bisected by a winding dirt path that leads to Caliburn Caves, meaning they must be traversed before the cave can be entered and its test of worthiness taken.
As the very first area in the game, the area is populated with nothing stronger than Slimes, She-slimes, and Moles. Naturally, as it is only a lead-up to Caliburn Caves, the area also lacks a boss. It does, however, feature the only NPC who can be spoken to outside of a town: A member of the guard who introduces the Caves and wishes the Hero luck as he enters.
