Effect When used as an item, makes the enemy smile, causing them to skip a single turn.

The Staff of jubilation (staff of smiles) appeared in the NES Version of Dragon Quest IV.

Details

The staff has an attack bonus of +33, and can be used to make an enemy smile, thus missing a turn in battle. Attacking them with the staff causes them to smile affectionately, but does nothing else. It can only be wielded by Borya, Kiryl, Maya, and Meena.

It can be obtained in the Endor Casino for 1,000 tokens, as well as in a chest in Doorway to Nadiria.

The weapon is similar to the Thalian staff in the Nintendo DS Version, but the latter lacks the side effects.
