The liquid metal armour is a recurring suit of armour in the Dragon Quest series. It is often one of the strongest armor items in its corresponding game and it protects the wearer against magical attacks. An emblem of a liquid metal slime is featured on the waist, and it is unique amongst the armour based upon metal slimes in that it features two distinct designs: the older has the spikes set on the pauldrons set much shorter and the filigree coloured blue, while the modern matches the others.

Appearances[edit | edit source]

Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen[edit | edit source]

The liquid metal armour has a defence bonus of +95. It can be purchased at a building at Endor which requires having the Magic Key for entry. It can be purchased for 35,000 (15,000 in the NES Version) gold. The liquid metal armour can be equipped by the Hero, Ragnar, Kiryl, Torneko, Meena, and Psaro.

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King[edit | edit source]

GameDescription
Metallic armour that reduces damage from curses by 23.

The liquid metal armour has a defence bonus of +101 and reduces non-Zap spell damage by 33%. All characters can equip it. The PS2 version of the game erroneously states that it reduces damage taken from curses by ⅔ rather than magic spells.

It can be purchased in the Baccarat casino for 50,000 tokens with one also available in the Dragovian Path. It can be sold for 4,750 gold or mixed with the Orichalcum and Slime crown to make the Metal king armour.
