Characteristics
Animated blood-red bouncing bodies craved of wood, some say the magic marionette is actually soaked in the remains of defeated adventurers. They rip magic points right from their enemies with a rigid weird dance, before slapping them silly with their wooden stumpy arms. The coloration of the puppets has changed many times over the years, from teal in their original appearance in II to brown in V, finally settling on dark red in VIII and most modern appearances.

Magic marionette began appearing in Version 2.0. It still drains MP with Weird Dance and can cast Kabuff to protect itself and fellow monsters, as well as gaining the ability to split its body up into pieces offensively. Starting with Version 2.2, Item Masters gained the ability to recruit magic marionettes as monster companions. In Version 5.1, vicious magic marionettes can be encountered in the Netherworld, with no changes to their behaviour.

Magic marionette appears as a B-rank monster of the Inorganic family as part of the limited Dragon Quest V event. It can learn Fizzle, Swoosh, and Kabuff naturally and can take part in Slon the Rook's Battle Road as a party member. It will join the player in the event quest Chapter 4, Episode 1: The Way Back to Orchesterra and can be fully awakened by collecting Magic Marionette Crystals in the Talon Tower. Magic marionettes are faced as enemies starting on B2 and every 5th basement until the 22nd. The lower floors of the tower are more difficult, but have higher chances of dropping the crystals.

The Magic marionette is a monster in the series.

Characteristics[edit | edit source]

Magic marionettes are puppets that have come to life after being abandoned by their owners. They rip magic points right from their enemies with their weird dances. The colouration of the puppets has changed many times over the years, from teal in their original appearance in II to brown in V, then grey in their original appearance in VI before finally settling on dark red in VII and most modern appearances. In later games, they gained the ability to split their bodies into pieces to rain down and strike their opponents.

Dragon Quest X [edit | edit source]

Magic marionette began appearing in Version 2.0. It still drains MP with Weird Dance and can cast Kabuff to protect itself and fellow monsters, as well as gaining the ability to split its body up into pieces offensively. Starting with Version 2.2, Item Masters gained the ability to recruit magic marionettes as monster companions. In Version 5.1, vicious magic marionettes can be encountered in the Netherworld, with no changes to their behaviour.
