The Damned well is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest VII. It is a powerful monster that disguises itself as a well in order to ambush unsuspecting travelers.

Characteristics[edit | edit source]

Gross, green and greedy monsters with a dislike of anyone that disturbs their rest at the lowest depths of the darkest dungeons. They have a ring of stones that they carry around with them, giving them the appearance of a monster crawling out of a well. Their faces are frightening enough to freeze foes in their tracks. They love to save up strength, ready to chuck and fling stones with extra bone-crunching force. The damned wells can also be called upon by bloody hands to assist them in battle.
