* If [[Torneko]] appraises the dancer's costume, he is shocked at how scandalous the outfit is, stating that it won't offer much protection in battle. He says that the outfit suits both Maya and Meena, but that it probably wouldn't fit him due to his size. Torneko then states that he wouldn't mind buying one himself to wear at home for the right price, then conspicuously denies that he's a crossdresser.

—Torneko, when he appraises the dancer's costume

The Dancer's costume is a piece of clothing in the series.

Appearances[edit | edit source]

Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen[edit | edit source]

The Dancer's costume has a Defence bonus of +8 and is part of Maya's initial equipment. In the original NES version, it could be equipped by both Maya and Alena. However, in remake versions of the game, Alena can no longer equip it, while Meena gains the ability to do so. It can be purchased for 400 gold in Femiscyra and sold for 300 gold. One set can also be found in the Palais de Léon and it can be dropped by Elepuses and Mimics.

  • If Torneko appraises the dancer's costume, he is shocked at how scandalous the outfit is, stating that it won't offer much protection in battle. He says that the outfit suits both Maya and Meena, but that it probably wouldn't fit him due to his size. Torneko then states that he wouldn't mind buying one himself to wear at home for the right price, then conspicuously denies that he's a crossdresser.

Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride[edit | edit source]

In the Definitive Edition of the game, the Hip-Shaker will be added to Serena's outfits after acquiring the dancer's costume.

Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai[edit | edit source]

In the manga and the 1991 anime series, the dancer's costume makes an appearance as one of the many outfits that Leona tries on at Bengarna's department store before she eventually settles on a set of wayfarer's clothes. The design is different from the one seen in Dragon Quest IV. Popp vetoes the outfit, telling her that it's too flashy for a Sage to wear. In the 2020 anime series, she tries on the Angel leotard instead.

Dragon Quest Treasures[edit | edit source]

The Dancer's costume is Treasure No. 127 in the Armour category and can be found on the Maneland. Its base value is 230,000 gold. There is also a crystalline version in the game that is known as the Crystal Dancer's Costume.

GameDescription
Customary clobber for whirling and twirling in a traditional dance.[5]
