It has a large, solid head roughly in the shape of an axe, flanked by a large spike on either side and another spike at the top. Both sides of the head are also decorated with rivets. In earlier games, the head and the handle were made out of dark grey metal and most of the handle had a grip. Starting with ''VI'', the side of the hammer's head was colored dark purple, while majority of the hammer was made out of a lighter silver metal and the grip was only located near the base of the handle. The design that appears exclusively in ''VIII'' made the war hammer short enough to be wielded in a single hand and is very similar to that game's version of the [[sledgehammer]]. Most of the hammer is made out of indigo metal and it has a grey grip flanked by yellow edges. The hammer's head is grooved and is topped with a tall spike. Smaller yellow spikes surround the head, as well.
