Maya is her older sister, though characters frequently mistake Meena to be the older sibling due to her relative maturity and seriousness. She is a fortune teller on a quest to avenge her father with her sister. She becomes the first of the Hero 4's companions after reading their fortune and realises it is her destiny to help them defeat the Evil One. She has made cameo appearances in several games in the series, including as a special guest in Dragon Quest IX, and as a fortune teller and quest giver in Dragon Quest X. Meena joined her sister as one of the playable characters in Dragon Quest Heroes II, is one of the original leader characters in DQRivals, and is a special Hero character in DQTact. ==Appearance and Personality== Meena is nearly the spitting image of Maya, her older sister. She dresses much more conservatively compared to her sister, though they wear identical silver headpieces, earrings, and chokers. Meena wears a saffron-coloured skirt that reaches down to her ankles covered by an orange sari-like garment that leaves her right arm exposed, along with a pair of sandals. Around her waist, she wears a silver belt and a longer silver chain that goes over her skirt, both with dangling green jewels. Meena carries a crystal ball with her everywhere, which she uses to tell fortunes. While she and her sister both have long purple hair, Meena does not have bangs/fringe. In Dragon Quest Heroes II, the sleeve on her garment is detached, leaving both of her shoulders exposed. She wears a silver armband with a blue jewel at the top of her sleeve and there are floral and leaf patterns embroidered on her clothing. She also wears a white chemise underneath her skirt. Meena is an extremely reserved and quiet person, and very rational. This disposition leads her to often scold her sister for her poor judgement regarding their money, and her general laid-back demeanour. But, despite these stern traits, she is still a very kind person at heart, looking out for her sister when the two set out to avenge their father's murder, and charging only a minuscule amount of gold for her fortune-telling services. During her travels with the rest of the Chosen Ones, Meena will occasionally have cryptic visions of the near future. ==Appearances== ===DQ4=== DQ4 Chapter 4 begins with Maya and Meena performing at the town, Laissez Fayre, which is populated almost entirely by entertainers and tourists. They use their job as a cover and the town as a base to investigate the murder of their father Mahabala, a prominent alchemist. Though they suspect his apprentice, Balzack, killed him in order to steal the Secret of Evolution, they have nothing to back up their claims, and keep them to themselves for the time being. After following the trail through several towns across the entire country, they finally confronted the murderer at his castle. Unfortunately, despite their best efforts, his true King arrives to soundly defeat them in battle and throws them into the dungeon. Luckily, the only other occupant points them to a secret exit, and after they escape, they flee directly to Endor. In DQ4 Chapter 5, Meena is attempting to continue her fortune-telling business, but Maya blows all the gold they'd earned on their journey at the casino, leaving them fairly stranded in the city. Luckily, the Hero 4 has been told to seek out their destined allies, and locates Maya and Meena in short order. When Meena reads his fortune, she realises that he is the prophesied Hero and immediately joins the party. The two are briefly separated in Con Cave and are approached by demonic doppelgangers of the Hero (while the Hero also battled doppelgangers of the sisters). When coming across the real Hero, Meena is more trusting while Maya quizzed them. Afterwards, they regroup and find the Symbol of faith. A while later in DQ4 Chapter 5, the party confronts Balzack, at Castle Zamoksva. He has used an imperfect version of the Secret of Evolution to become Baalzack, but the party is still able to kill him, avenging the death of the sisters' father at long last. ====Spells==== {| style="width:65%; height:100px; text-align:center" border="1" |-<---!Headings are up first.!---> style="font-weight:bold; background:#b742d6" | Level Learned || Original Japanese || NES Version || Remakes || Spanish Version || MP Cost |- style="font-weight:normal" |- |1 |Hoimi |Heal |Heal |Minicuración |2 |- |3 |Rariho |Sleep |Snooze |Sueño |3 |- |8 |Bagi |Infernos |Woosh |Minitornado |2 |- |10 |Kiariku |Numboff |Tingle |Reactivación |2 |- |13 |Behoimi |Healmore |Midheal |Semicuración |4 |- |16 |Rarihoma |Sleepmore |Kasnooze |Somnolencia |3 |- |20 |Zaoraru |Vivify |Zing |Semirresurrección |8 |- |23 |Bagima |Infermore |Swoosh |Tornado |4 |- |26 |Behoma |Healall |Fullheal |Maxicuración |6 |- |29 |Fubaha |Barrier |Insulatle |Aislar |6 |- |32 |Bagicrossu |Infermost |Kaswoosh |Supertornado |8 |- |35 |Megazaru |Farewell |Kerplunk |Sacrificio resurrector |All |} ====Stats==== Meena's abilities in battle are styled after the Priest vocation in Dragon Quest III, possessing approximately half of the spells. She has sole access to the Woosh series of spells which give her more reliable offensive utility than Kiryl's Whack spells, but she is only able to heal one character at a time, whereas the former will learn Multiheal. Relying on Meena to revive deceased allies is a gamble as she only learns Zing, but in dire circumstances she is an asset with the party-restoring Kerplunk—this spell alone can completely turn the tide of battle and snatch victory from the jaws of defeat at the cost of her own life. Meena is also the only chosen one to learn the vital Insulatle spell, making her a crucial ally against the Lord of the Underworld and other enemies that rely on breath attacks. As a spell caster, Meena possesses low Resilience and max HP, but high Wisdom, Luck, and max MP. She also enjoys a higher-than-average Strength when compared to the other magical characters until her sister's Strength rises suddenly at higher levels. Meena has access to some powerful equipment such as the Falcon knife earrings and Liquid metal sword, but she will be quickly surpassed in physical combat by Ragnar and Alena unless seeds are applied to boost her might. Her armour choices will be mostly limited to clothing, robes, and hats for magic users, but late in the game, she is able to equip all three pieces of the liquid metal equipment. traits is her ability to read her silver tarot cards during battle, with each drawn card causing a unique effect. The power of the cards ignore any resistances a monster may normally have, save for bosses. Players should be cautious about leaving fate to chance and ordering Meena to divine too often, however, as the likelihood to draw The Fool rises to 50% after the third shuffling in one battle. Also, Meena can use the cards outside of battle to read the player's fortune. This will not affect the game, but provides interesting dialogue from the Seer. *Justice: Casts Poof on all enemies and sends them flying into the blue. *Devil: Casts Kasap on all foes. *Death: Casts Whack on one enemy. *Sun: Casts Omniheal on all allies. *Moon: Casts Dazzle on all enemies. *Strength: Casts Oomph on a random ally *Star: Doubles the amount of Experience and gold received after the current battle, will not stack will multiple draws. *Tower: Casts Zap on all enemies. Damage is calculated as Meena's level multiplied between 0.5 and 2. *Fool: Casts Thwack on the entire Party! ===DQ6=== Meena appears along with the other Chosen Ones in the near-future version of Reaper's Peak, having set up shop to tell fortunes in the village much to her sister's annoyance. When reading the palm of the Hero 6, she notes that she sees nothing at all in his future and cannot gaze into his soul. She notes that this means the young man has an incredible burden that he must bear, but reassures him that if he follows the path that he knows to be true then he will find happiness at the end of the long road. When spoken to again, Meena will mention her love of caves and tombs. ===DQ9=== Meena appears as one of the special guests at the Quester's Rest in Stornway. This could be obtained when the DQVC was available using Nintendo's Wi-Fi Channel. When spoken to, she gives the player different pieces of her outfit for fulfilling certain conditions. *Meena's robe - Received after talking to her. *Meena's bracelets - Received after the inn is fully expanded. *Meena's mane - Received if it is the player's birthday. *Samhita sandals - Received if the Hero 9 is a Paladin. The Accolade Foxy Fortune-Teller is earned if the Hero 9 wears all parts of Meena's costume. However, it is only possible for a female Hero to earn this Accolade as certain parts of Meena's costume are female-exclusive. ===DQ10=== Meena first appears in the Version 1.5 update of the game, both as a quest-giving NPC and as a fortune teller who can influence a player's game for up to two hours. She has a chance of randomly appearing in Magic Labyrinths, much like Torneko. ===DQH2=== Meena appears in Dragon Quest Heroes II as the fourth set of otherworldly characters, alongside her sister Maya who joins shortly afterward. After the intrepid heroes wind up locked in Ingenia’s dungeons due to the Queen’s belief they were attempting her assassination, Meena walks up to the cell to ask if they have seen her sister at all, who left home one day and didn’t return home. Discovering that Torneko was with the jailed travelers, and they are attempting to meet the queen of the land; Meena decides to join the party believing it will help her locate her sister and her fortune telling showing her fate intertwin with theirs. In game Meena is given the title of “The Divine Diviner” and her weapon of choice are her iconic Tarot Cards, mimicking her gameplay from 4. Meena is able to throw her tarot cards to attack foes from a long range, and call upon the effects of various Arcana to inflict debilitating effects on any foe targeted by her cards. In addition she also has access to her staple Woosh spells for a wide area of effect damage and Multiheal, despite not being able to learn it in her original game. Her Coup de Grâce is Starfall, which summons a meteor shower to strike all her enemies. The younger sister is said to spend all of her time with her crystal ball and reading tarot cards, while the older one spends all of their hard-earned money at casinos and is on the lookout for a handsome suitor. Ironically, the younger one is dressed like a dancer, while the older sister is dressed more modestly. *From June 10th to July 10th, 2016, a dessert called the "Minea's Fruity Parfait" was available at the real-life Luida's Bar in Tokyo to promote the release of Dragon Quest Heroes II. Designed to look like Meena, it was decorated with her tarot cards, a tapioca pearl to represent her crystal ball, chocolate whipped cream and wafers, mango gelato, and tea ice cream. There was also a parfait based on Maya, as well. ==Gallery== <center><gallery> File:Meena Famicom.png|Famicom art. File:MeenaArt.png|More Famicom art.
