The following is a list of recruitable [[Monster recruitment|monsters]] in {{DQ5}}.

==Monsters recruited through random encounters==
Players can begin recruiting monsters after speaking to [[Monty]] in the city of [[Fortuna]] during the beginning of the second generation. The monsters listed below have fixed recruitment chances that could not be altered by the player until the 2019 andoird/ios version added the [[monster magnet]] accessory, which raises the rate of a monster to the next stage. Additionally, every breed of monster has a level minimum that the {{Hero 5}} must reach before they will even consider joining him.

These monsters are found in the game's various towns and dungeons instead of through battle, and each has a different stipulation for joining the Hero's ranks. Of note is Saber, who is completely unmissable due to the game's narrative structure; even if no other monsters are recruited, the Hero's childhood pet will always be by his side.
