==Characteristics==
The bronze knife has had several different designs through the series history.
*The knife's original design from ''Dragon Quest V'' was made entirely of bronze and had a curved guard, similar to a quillon [[Wikipedia:Dagger|dagger]] used as a sidearm by knights from the 12th to the 17th centuries.
*The design introduced in ''Dragon Quest VII'' is similar in shape to the Roman [[Wikipedia:Gladius|gladius]] and has a leaf-shaped blade. It also has cloth wrapped around the grip.
*The bronze knife from ''Dragon Quest VIII'' has a greenish colour similar to patina that forms on copper alloys such as bronze and has a red grip. This design has been used in most modern games, with the colour of the knife occasionally being changed to bronze instead.
It is a very basic knife that can be wielded by characters who cannot carry heavier weapons, such as mages.
