Takashi Yamazaki was the screenplay writer and chief director, with Ryuichi Yagi and Makoto Hanafusa as additional directors.<ref name="mantan"></ref><ref name="natalie"></ref> The script was adapted from the original title by Yuji Horii, who served as supervisor for the film.<ref name="mantan"></ref><ref name="natalie"></ref> [[Kōichi Sugiyama]] was lead composer with the soundtrack featuring iconic ''Dragon Quest'' music.<ref name="mantan"></ref>
