Taking inspiration from the ''[[Wikipedia:Ent|treant]]'' of Western fantasy, the treeface is a tree that has come to life, having a wicked face on the front of its trunk, walking about on its roots like legs, and using its branches as limbs. They are able to use their own leaves as [[medicinal herb|medicinal herbs]] to either heal themselves or fellow wounded monsters and are not above fleeing battle when their necks are on the chopping block. The trees are also known for performing peculiar dances in order to drain spellcasters of their magic power. Treefaces were once ordinary trees that came to life after absent-minded adventurers carved words into their wood. The treeface's Japanese name [[Wikipedia:Jinmenju|Jinmenju]] is a legendary Chinese tree known for sprouting human faces in its flowers.
