= <small>Gameplay</small> = Dragon Quest Itsudemo Bōken Dice translates literally to 'Anytime Adventure Dice', and dice are core to how the game is played. During gameplay the player rolls dice in order to move through spaces to navigate different maps to reach an end teleportal. The goal of the game is to level different character vocations, find mini medals, and encounter monsters in order to add them to a growing encyclopedia. There are a total of 800 monsters to find in order to complete the monster encyclopedia, as well as 999 mini medals. The purpose of medals is to unlock Dragon Quest themed smartphone wallpapers and emoji to use on the device, playing the game to unlock additional features and get more out of the phone. Overall the game represents the gamification of smartphone usage, with dice points (DP) being earned through the every day use of the device; This includes unlocking the phone, receiving calls and emails, launching the game daily, internet packet transmission, as well as using the built-in pedometer to reward step count. A dice roll is unlocked every 100 DP earned, meaning the more the phone is used throughout the day, the further the player can advance. The game's maps are split into biomes, with a total of 8 different biomes in the game (plains, desert, forest, beach, sanctuary, poison marsh, volcano, and snow). The sanctuary biome has 2 matching maps, with the only difference being one is a boss room with the door replaced by a throne in the map art.<gallery> File:Boken dice plains map.png|Plains File:Boken dice desert map.png|Desert File:Boken dice forest map.png|Forest File:Boken dice beach map.png|Beach File:Boken dice sanctuary map.png|Sanctuary File:Boken dice boss map.png|Boss Room File:Boken dice marsh map.png|Poison Marsh File:Boken dice volcano map.png|Volcano File:Boken dice snow map.png|Snow </gallery>Each space along the map that is landed on after a dice roll can contain different things. Some correspond to mini medals or combat encounters agains random monsters (the biome decides which monsters can appear). Others can be the scene of random events such as gaining additional dice rolls, free experience, or advancing the player additional spaces (or moving the player back). Combat is turn-based and very simple, with the player pressing an 'attack' button to engage. For normal monsters, if not killed in a single strike, they will flee. If the player is defeated, they return to the first space on the board, losing 1 available dice roll if possible. Health is fully restored after each fight. The list of available monsters grows as vocations are levelled, resulting in a total monster encyclopedia of 800 monsters. On the anniversary dates of main series game releases, DP achieved is doubled. These days are: * January 26 (Dragon Quest II) * February 10 (Dragon Quest III) * February 11 (Dragon Quest IV) * May 27 (Dragon Quest) * July 11 (Dragon Quest IX) * August 2 (Dragon Quest X) * August 26 (Dragon Quest VII) * September 27 (Dragon Quest V) * November 27 (Dragon Quest VIII) * December 9 (Dragon Quest VI)
