'''The Battleground''' is a dungeon in the second act of [[Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age|''Dragon Quest XI'']]. It's a floating island consisting mostly of grayish rock, and old ruins of the [[watchers]] civilization. 

The entrance of the dungeon is covered by an impassable mist unless the Luminary has previously collected the [[Guiding Light]].


== Story ==
The Luminary and his party make landfall on the Battleground in search of a legendary ore to create a new [[Sword of Light]]. They find the Island completely impassable due to a purple mist shrouding the area. Lighting the Pillar in front of the entrance with the [[Guiding Light]] allows them to enter the dungeon. Throughout the dungeon they come across multiple stone tablets with inscriptions, left by the Watchers who lived there long ago.
