Frizz is a recurring offensive spell in the Dragon Quest series. Introduced in Dragon Quest III, it is a single target spell (in contrast to group-searing Sizz) and often is learned by Magi.

It is depicted as a single fireball that attacks the enemy. With the powered-up versions of Frizz, the fireball grows larger and the damage is more devastating.
Appearances
Dragon Quest III
Magi and Sages automatically learn this spell at level 1 and the Hero can learn it at level 2. It costs 2 MP to cast, and fries an enemy for 8~14 points of damage.

Dragon Quest IV
Maya knows this spell at level 1. It costs her 2 mp to cast, and lets her burn an enemy for between 8~14 points of damage.

Dragon Quest V
Hits between 12~15 points of damage and costs 2 mp to cast.
Dragon Quest VI
Ashlynn already knows this spell upon joining, and is the only party member to learn it. It allows her to hit one enemy for 11~15 damage and costs 2 mp as usual.

Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past
Maribel learns this at level 3. The chimaera class can also learn it on the second rank. It cost 2 MP to cast and can do 11~15 damage.

Dragon Quest VIII
Jessica already knows this spell upon joining the party. The spell will deal 10~13 base damage, and cap at 21~24 when her wisdom reaches 77. Jessica uses this to burn the vines off of the library door in Trodain (while the curse is still active).

Dragon Quest IX
Frizz is automatically learned by Mages at level 1. It singes a single enemy with a small fireball for 2 MP, dealing 11~15 base damage and grows in strength when the caster's magical might reaches 50. Once the stat reaches 999, the spell will deal 98~102 damage.

Dragon Quest X
Magi start off knowing the spell, can can cast it for 2 MP. The damage formula is Magical Might x 0.227 +5.5, with a minimum and maximum range of 6~10 and 74~78, respectively.

DQ11
Veronica already knows how to cast frizz when she joins, and the Hero learns it at level 2.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker
Frizz singes a single enemy with a small fireball. It costs 2 MP to cast and can be learned from various skillsets, including Fire, Fire Fighter, Fire II, Frizz & Bang, Frizz & Bang II, Frizz & Woosh, Frizz & Woosh II, Frizz & Zam, Frizz & Zam II, Frizz & Zap, Frizz & Zap II, Hawkhart, Hawkhart II, Mage, and Muspell.

Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below
Frizz is the main offensive spell that Bianca can cast in battle. She shoots a small fireball for 4 MP. As her level increases, she can upgrade the spell and also cast Frizzle and Kafrizz by charging up Frizz.

Enemy versions
The foe's fireball will deal 7~12 damage, and stick with the simmer until VIII, where it would weaken to 6~9 damage. Beginning with IX, frizz deals 7~10 damage.
The Stalagosaur, formerly known as Orligon, is a recurrent monster in the Monsters subseries and was introduced in Dragon Quest Monsters 2.

Characteristics
The stalagosaur is a giant stegosaur monster with navy blue skin and navy blue scaly skin and above it a khaki armored skin. Through all its back there can be seen crystal plates that this monster uses as defense. At the end of the tail the plates have merged making it transform into a ankylosaur-like tail, so stalagosaur could protect itself with it. If one looks closely to the ingame model of the stalagosaur it can be observed that the khaki armored skin is quite damaged, since this monster tends to sleep beneath the sand of deserts, this have caused this armor to have been eroded, and thus the why of this damaged appearance. Interestingly, the stalagosaur resembles an ankylosaurus more than it resembles a stegosaurus, its namesake.
Lord Rhapthorne is the central antagonist of Dragon Quest VIII. A demon of untold legend, Rhapthorne is the party's final opponent in their quest to rid the world of an evil curse.

Characteristics
Rhapthorne has the upper half of a pudgy man with a black goatee. He has two large horns coming from his head. His lower half appears bulbous, with a ring of spikes protruding from the bottom. Rhapthorne's skin is purple, with flame-like designs in a darker shade of purple. He has two small bat wings on his back.

Rhapthorne had power over the World of Darkness and planned to take control of the World of Light, but was stopped by the Seven Sages with the help of Empyrea, the Godbird. He returned centuries later to kill the heirs of Seven Sages and take over the World of Light.

In a break from the series' tradition of the Archfiend being a distant figure removed from much of the narrative, Rhapthorne is actually present from the very beginning of the game thanks to his possession of Dhoulmagus. He is aware of the party's actions against him from the start, and as such his loathing for them is significantly more personal than that of final foes past.
*Rhapthorne (second forme) is a great three-slot Rank X monster. He can be synthesized by combining his first forme with Zoma.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 Professional
Trivia
*Rhapthorne is the only final boss not to be fought at the end of a dungeon.
*Rhapthorne's diminutive first form bears a slight resemblance to real world Sea Angels. Both feature prominent bio-luminescence in their abdomens, stubby appendages, and the Angel's antennae approximate with Rhapthorne's horns.
*When possessing both Dhoulmagus and Leopold, both hosts developed large, black-feathered wings reminiscent of a bird of prey. Neither of Rhapthorne's actually bodies have these traits, with his petite form bearing no wings at all, and his larger form having smaller bat-like wings.
*In Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2, the evil scepter Rhapthorne weilds is called Malevolence.

His lower half appears bulbous, with spikes protruding from the bottom. Rhapthorne's skin is purple, with flame-like designs in a darker shade of purple. He has two small bat wings on his back, also purple.

His lower half appears bulbous, with spikes protruding from the bottom. Rhapthorne's skin is purple, with flame-like designs in a darker shade of purple.

Patty will also (reluctantly) take deceased party members off of the hero's hands.
It is located in the starting town of Aliahan, in the northwestern most corner of the city. It consists of 2 separate NPCs behind counters who control party member creation and addition/dismissal from the player's party. It is the basis for the party system in Dragon Quest III.

Dragon Quest V
Patty has settled in Gotha, managing the bar on the second floor of the castle. Her services can be utilized in the Third generation when the player has control over the human side of the party line up. Monty is found in the bar as well, allowing for total party control in one convenient location.

Dragon Quest VI
Patty has expanded her business considerably, being available in both the Upper and Lower Worlds, and even the realm of the dreadfiend himself.
The bar is located in Port Haven, Alltrades Abbey, Felonia, Slimopolis, Greedmore Valley, and Gallows Moor.

As Monty does not appear in any version of VI, monster recruits can be dropped off at Patty's.

DQ9
Patty plays more prominently in the plot of IX than in previous games, and her bar is found at the Quester's Rest inn in Stornway.

DQ10
Patty was added to the game on it's fifth anniversary, and set up shop in the city of Astoria. The bar allows players to change vocations, recruit A.I. controlled party members, and receive general advice from the lady herself.
The Medal King is a recurring non-player character in the Dragon Quest series. He first appeared in Dragon Quest IV and has appeared in all subsequent main series games, as well as many side series games. Early on, he was referred to as simply 'Medal King', or 'King who collects small medals'. However, in later games and remakes, each king is usually given a specific name.
