Patriarch Orstov is one of the characters and villains in Dragon Quest X.

Biography
Patriarch Orstov first appears at the end of 3.0 waiting for the Hero to visit Nagaland. The Hero finally meets him, who reminds the Hero that there is a dark bird on the loose, and a dark figure is wrecking havoc. The dark bird is defeated, and Orstov regonzies the Hero who will reunite Nagaland through its territories, and bring peace back to the land. Whenever the Hero defeats an end boss of a Version 3 story, Orstov will have a vision of what will happen next. When Nagaland is reunited, however, Orstov is captured and taken to the dungeon. The Hero and Estella fight his traitorous aide, Principal Nadia, and triumph. However, a tail slowly starts to emerge from his body, and stabs the Hero. It turns out Orstov masterminded the whole thing to revive Nadraga, the Regional God of Astolia who was sealed away after Astoila's goddess went off to fight. The Hero is revived by Gods of Astoila, which Orstov expected. He takes Estella to the Nagaland temple to begin the ceremony to revive him, since he is sealed inside her. The Hero and his sibling confront him, and they battle him. Despite their best efforts in defeating him, Orstov remains confident in his victory, as Nadraga is revived, and he merges with him since he's actually a part of him that was cut off before he was sealed away. He is last seen guiding the Hero and Estella out of Nadraga's body after the Astoila God's defeat.

Trivia
* Due to his visions of what will happen next in the Nagaland story, and being evil all along, he can be considered an evil counterpart of Crow, an ally of the Hero.
* He also has similarities to Hargon. Both are the leader of a cult, both seek to revive their masters (Malroth and Nadraga), and both sacrifice themselves to said masters.
** However, while Hargon is evil from the start, destroyed Moonbrooke, cursed the Princess of Moonbrooke into a dog, laid a curse on the Prince of Cannock, and is only fought by the time the player reaches him, Orstov acts as a kind character to the DQX Hero until the climax of Version 3.

The Children of Hargon <!--ハーゴン教団, Hāgon kyōdan, Hargon Cult--> is the collective name for the enemies of Dragon Quest II and Dragon Quest Builders II. Lead by the eponymous leader, it is an apocalyptic cult dedicated to summoning the god of destruction into the world.
Appearances
DQ2
Though unnamed in their debut title, the sect nevertheless plays a critical role in the game's plot. Beginning with the opening sequence depicting the siege of Castle Moonbrooke, the Children of Hargon start their jihad on the peaceful world by spreading as much destruction and misery as possible. This culminates in the three Luminaries of Erdrick raiding their fortress hidden away in the frozen hellscape of Rendarak.
Dragon Quest Builders 2
The cult is the primary antagonistic force and oppose the Builder at every turn. As described in their doctrine, members are duty-bound to destroy any and all structures they come across and to prevent the creation of new things. Many of the followers are hypocritical in their actions and will request that others outside the faith repair and create things for them.

The cult is comprised of both human followers and monster followers, though many of the human followers were simply forced into the fold under threat of death. Many of the conscripted cultists are easily convinced to abandon their faith when the Builder saves them from squalor.

Many lower ranking members of the cult incorrectly believed that their faith would stave off their destruction upon the revival of the god of destruction. Unlike his original goal, to create a world into his ideal vision, Hargon now simply wanted to destroy everything permanently as revenge for his death at the hands of the Luminaries of Erdrick.

Insidious iconography
The Children of Hargon bear the mark of a black bat with a sinister smile. Note that due to monster designs (and entire sprites in some cases) being brought forward from II into sequels and spin-off titles, this does not imply that some faction of the cult happens to exist in that particular setting.

Known members
*Hargon
*Belial
*Pazuzu
*Atlas
In addition to the profane pontiff and his three lieutenants, the flock of fiends consists of the following enemies:
*Chasmonaut
*Deadnaut
*Gargoyle
*Whackolyte
Additionally, Dragon Quest Builders 2 features several distinct individual monster followers of the cult that encounter the Builder:
The Green dragon is a rarely appearing monster in the DQSeries that was introduced in DQ. They are powerful, scaly beasts of legendary status.

Characteristics
In appearance, green dragons are quadrupedal and wingless, their underbellies an orange-brown shade. Like dragons in most other tales, green dragons are powerful, boasting impressive stamina, strength, and resilience, as well as the ability to breath fire.
Blackmar is not a dread fiend, who had all been dispatched to the earth; instead he lords over the Gallows Moor prisoners with an iron fist and harvests misery for his master.

Characteristics
Blackmar appears as a yellow demon with massive dragonic purple wings. Able to breath a a fearsome fiery breath, as well as drain the defences of able bodied attackers, this black hearted Dread Fiend is a frightening foe to face. The battle against him can rage on for a long time since the fiend is capable of casting Kazing, reviving any of the his dark knight companions, the Dragooners. They are also capable of calling on a Cureslime for back up, which can cast Fullheal on Blackmar, bringing the beast back up to full health. The Dread Fiend can also bring the bothersome slimes back to life, meaning multi-target skills are a must have in this battle.
Murdaw (ムドー romanized as Mudou, Mudo in fan translations) appears as the initial primary antagonist in Dragon Quest VI. He terrorizes the world, and any who challenge him never return. As soon as the game begins, the player character, Carver, and Milly go to fight Murdaw. Upon reaching him, he defeats the party with ease and banishes them from his sight.

Characteristics
Murdaw is one of the four Dread Fiends, and the first one to be encountered. Though he is the weakest of the group, he is by far the most effective at causing chaos. His traps are devilishly clever, locking the kingdom of Somnia in a futile war in the upper world and completely disabling the kingdom in the lower by locking the royal family in an unwaking slumber and spiriting the prince away. Murdaw possesses the ability to be present at more than one location at the same time. While his true body remains situated in his lair within the Real World, he acts through the body of King Somnus in the Dream World, thus threatening both worlds simultaneously.

Murdaw plans far in advance, recognizing that Alltrades Abbey would produce endless enemies for him if not sealed away. Defeating him allows access to the vocation system. Murdaw is fought three times, once in the upper world and twice below.

DQ6
The game begins with the hero, Carver and Milly confronting Murdaw in his keep. Before the battle can properly start, Murdaw ambushes the trio, separating each of their bodies into two essences and banishing one part into the Dream World while spreading the other part throughout the Real World. While this act did not kill off the heroes, it severely weakened their powers and abilities and rendered the Dream World essences amnesic. The Hero's Real World counterpart was sent far away, while Carver's Real World counterpart was petrified and remained in the castle. What happened to Milly is never revealed, but her two essences found each other and combined off-screen, not too long after the incident.

Later, the heroes find Murdaw's lair in the Dream World. They engage him in battle and emerge victorious. Unfazed by the loss, Murdaw declares that he will get his revenge soon enough before attempting to teleport himself away. The heroes use Ra's Mirror on him, revealing that he is really King Somnus, whom Murdaw possessed to project himself onto the Dream World.

The heroes eventually locate the real Murdaw in the Real World, finding themselves in the same location as the beginning of the game. Murdaw attempts the same ambush on the heroes, but this time the heroes are able to counteract against this trick using Ra's Mirror. Finally cornered, Murdaw engages the heroes in an actual battle. In the first battle, he is flanked by two Prickly pranksters and can summon more, or alternatively Harmours if they are defeated. In the second battle, Murdaw reveals his true powers, putting the heroes in a gruesome final confrontation. After his second defeat, Murdaw is finally vanquished; his death lifts the seal on Alltrades Abbey.

Gracos is a recurring monster and antagonist in the DQSeries. He is typically depicted as an overweight merman-like monster wielding a pole-arm.

Characteristics
Gracos is likely a more powerful form of a Merman, as he shares many of his characteristics with this monster, particularly the placement of his fins. Gracos differs from this common monster by means of his greater girth, thicker lips, wristbands and weapon: a pole-arm with a crescent-shaped blade on the end.

Having first appeared as a boss monster, Gracos typically fulfills that same role in his other appearances and is powerful as such. He possesses great physical might and is adept at using magic and abilities as well.

In DQ6, Gracos maintains the seal on Sorceria and defeating him enables access to the city. Gracos is the least competent of the Dread Fiends, sleeping on the job and unintentionally informing the party of his master's plans at the slightest inquiry.
Making his second appearance as a boss, Gracos is the one responsible for flooding Hamelia in the past and must be confronted in order to set things right.

Strategy
Gracos is a tough fight. He can attack twice in one round and hit the party very hard. He is immune to Sap and has a high resistance to Dazzle. Finally, he has a very high resistance to ice spells and skills so these should be avoided completely.

There is a small grace as Florin joins this fight. Even still, Gracos shouldn't be taken lightly. The Shepherd's Insulatle technique does wonders for this battle as well as Kabuff and Buff. Armor that protects against ice is a must. The Martial Artist's Wind Sickles should be used regularly as well as the Shepherd's Stampede attack and the Hybrid skill Sword Dance.

Do not rely on Jann to heal the party. If you are in need of healing, have Maribel Mayde use the Staff of salvation.
Appearing as a rank A member of the Demon family, Gracos also has a small role in the piracy side-quest of the game, being summoned as one of the many monsters the player must confront while tracking down Captain Crow. One possible synthesis for a Gracos is combining a Merman with an Archdemon.

Trivia
* Nadraga is similar to Rhapthorne from DQ8. Both are villains that were sealed away, both wield specters during their fights, and have very big final forms.
** However, Rhapthorne was sealed away in the Godbird Sceptre and needed the 7 Sages' heirs to be dead in order to be free, while Nadraga needed to be freed by the reunifaction of the 5 regions of Nagaland, the Creator's core, and Estella as a host.
* The Hero going inside the Nadraga decoy body to fight him is similar to Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story and Kid Icarus: Uprising. However, the inside is strangely more peaceful, with dark clouds looming over the horizon.
* Nadraga is the 2nd Dragon Quest villain to succeed in a goal. The other 2 were Rhapthorne and Mordegon.
* Nadraga's design is a combination of Rhapthorne and Cell, the latter from Dragon Ball Z.
* Nadraga is the first final boss to not belong to the ??? family, belonging to the Dragon family instead. The second is Kyronos, who belongs to the Material family, albeit in his fist forme.

Etymology
Daimou is a term for Bigger Bad, unsurprisingly shared with other Dragon Quest Villains like Zoma and Rhapthorne. This is fitting for Madesagora, since he ordered Nelgel to destroy Astoila, and had more monsters waiting in another region in case Nelgel failed to kill the Hero, along with Madesagora himself having his own plans. (Eg, creating a new Renshida to replace the old one.)

Trivia
* Madesagora is the third villain in the Dragon Quest series to merge/create a new world. The other two are Mortamor and Rhapthorne.
** In addition, he is the third main villain to have a family member, the first being Estark, and the second being Zoma.

** However, while Hargon is evil from the start, destroyed Moonbrooke, cursed the Princess of Moonbrooke into a dog, laid a cure on the Prince of Cannock, and is only fought by the time the player reaches him, Orstov acts as a kind character to the DQX Hero until the climax of Version 3.
Erik is a character in Dragon Quest XI. He is a thief who becomes a companion to the Hero 11 early in the story after abandoning his life of crime.

His weapons of choice consist of Knives, one-handed Swords, and Boomerangs, and he is even capable of dual wielding weapons.

Appearance and Personality
Erik is a young man with blue eyes and slicked back, spiky cyan hair that has a single forelock. He has a single gold hoop earring on each ear and wears purple beads around his neck. His clothes are relatively simple, wearing a hooded dark green tunic with lacing that exposes his chest, a red sash tied around his waist, blue trousers, fingerless gloves, and leather shoes worn with orange socks that are held up with string. He carries a scabbard with a dagger on his sash.

Despite his gruff exterior, he has a kind and compassionate heart. As shown when trouble happens for friends and family. He is a seasoned traveler and guides the hero along his journey. Always there to support the Hero whenever there is trouble.

Story
Erik is a young male who grew up in Sniflheim, and was raised by Vikings along with his sister, Mia.

After meeting the Seer and learning that if he takes the Red Orb and meets the Luminary "underground", he will gain forgiveness. Erik then takes the Red Orb and ends up in the prisons of Heliodor Castle, which is underground; it is there where Erik meets the Luminary.

Erik then teams up with the Luminary and journeys alongside him and the rest of party to gather the rest of Orbs and reach the World Tree.

When Erik and the party go to Sniflheim to retrieve the Blue Orb, Erik gets distant and quiet; something is bothering him.

After the World Tree falls and the rest of the party is getting gathered once again, Erik is found as a stowaway on the "Salty Stallion", and it is revealed it has amnesia.
*In Dragon Quest XI S, it is revealed that the amnesia was caused due to the Seer granting him powers to escape Indignus, at the cost of his memories.

A priest in Sniflheim remembers Erik from years before. The Priest then tells that party about Erik's previously unknown past. Hearing this overwhelms Erik and he leaves as his memory struggles to return.

Erik then returns to hut he and his sister grew up in. It is then revealed that Erik accidentally cursed his sister by giving her a relic that turns everything the wearer touches to gold, this includes the wearer. With the help of the Hero he frees his sister of the cursed relic. Finally finding his atonement he was looking for.

Erik wants to stay with the Hero to defeat Mordegon.

When the group finds the 'Orichalum' in the Battleground Erik gets carried away about the value of the gem. Excusing himself for his behaviour and acknowledging it will be used for the 'Sword of Light'.
Trivia
Erik is the second major Dragon Quest character to be depicted as left-handed after Angelo from Dragon Quest VIII. Single weapons are always held in his left, while his dual-wielding skill makes it clear that his left hand is dominant. In addition many cutscenes showing him favoring his left hand to use or hold everyday items.
Dragon Quest Rivals is a digital collectible card game published by Square Enix in November 2017 for Android and iOS. A PC version has also been announced and will be released at a later date, while a version for the Nintendo Switch was released in February 2019.

Gameplay
This mobile game lets players create a deck of cards featuring characters and monsters throughout the Dragon Quest franchise and battle it out in turn-based combat with a variety of different strategies. The gameplay has been described as similar to that of Blizzard Entertainment's card battling game, Hearthstone. Many of the characters that appear in the game have been fully voiced for the first time in the series.

The player selects a "leader" character to play as and faces off against an enemy leader by summoning monsters, casting spells, or equipping weapons to attack them from their MP pool. The goal is to reduce the other leader's HP to zero. At the beginning of combat, each side has 1 MP and it increases each turn by 1. The playable cards all have their own MP costs, and monster and weapon cards have an attack stat and an HP stat (uses for weapons). Additionally, a leader character can use 1 MP to Psyche Up and build Tension. Once a leader has 3 stacks of Tension, they can use their unique Coup de Grâce. Each leader character also has cards that can be used exclusively by them.
Appearance and personality
Nelgel dresses in a black shirt with lime-green pants, pink boots, and a green coat with the skull of a monster serving as a cuirass that tapers into a lavender cape. Nelgel's skin is a light shade of purple and his hair is white; two large, curving horns emerge from the center of his skull and extend back to his shoulders. A large scythe is his main weapon in his humanoid form.

Once transformed, Nelgel resembles a stygian simian with a bulky upper body, bat wings, bird legs, and a thin tail. His skin is green and covered in purple markings.
Dragon Quest X: Mezameshi Itsutsu no Shuzoku Online is the tenth game in the Dragon Quest series. It was announced at a press conference in January 2009. On September 5<!--or 4--> 2011, it was announced to be an online multiplayer game for the Nintendo Wii and released in Japan on August 2, 2012. Dragon Quest X is also playable without the online feature.

Two physical expansion packs were released for the game: Nemureru Yūsha to Michibiki no Meiyū in 2013 and Inishie no Ryuu no Denshou in 2015. Also, there was a manga series, Dragon Quest: Souten no Soura. A Nintendo Switch version was also announced on January 12th, 2017 during the Nintendo Switch Presentation, though at the moment, it will only be in Japanese.

Gameplay
Dragon Quest X is the first game inside the numbered titles that breaks the Dragon Quest tradition of turn-based combat; the combat becomes more action-based by breaking the order of the attacks.

The game includes a quest system like in Dragon Quest IX, but with some changes. Quests serve as side-stories helping non-player characters around the game's world. Multiple quests can be performed simultaneously with some even interlocking and unlocking various stages in fellow quests. Early quests include gathering magical spring water, slaying monsters and stealing for a fellow thief. Like the previous Dragon Quest installment, Dragon Quest X contains many open ended mini-quests. Upon completion of the quests, a "Quest List log," serving as an in-game achievement list. There are also brand new "Job quests" that can only be received when you have the job that is requested.

This game also includes two new features as a reference to other RPG games: the Fire Colosseum and the Magic Labyrinth. The Fire Colosseum allows the player challenge again some storyline bosses that are modified to be stronger and the Magic Labyrinth acts like the grottos of Dragon Quest IX.
Offline tutorial and Prologue
The story begins on the village of Eteene, the home of the Hero and their sibling, when the Hero is looking at the sky at the centre of the village, their sibling calls them, and they are shown to be riding the turtle Kame-sama along with Lady Abba, the eldest woman of Eteene. When Kame-sama reaches the point where the hero is, their sibling offers to ride with them, however Lady Abba refuses and starts talking with the Hero.

A strange noise awakens the hero from a dream, only to learn that their sibling accidentally destroyed the village's supply of Perky Beans, Lady Abba's favorite food, in an attempt to multiply them via alchemy. At Eteene's church the hero meets Lady Abba's grandson, Singh, who instructs the hero to gather various items from the local villagers, so that they can fashion a pillow to serve as a compensation for the lost of the perky beans. Lady Abba then asks the hero to look for their sibling, and despite being upset at Singh for disturbing her, she still uses the pillow they made, falling into a deep sleep. After locating their sibling in a cul-de-sac trying to do more alchemy in the Eteene region, the hero returns to the village, where Lady Abba announces that village will surely be destroyed, with no survivors. However, hope remains in the form of a plant known as the flower of Tensu, which blooms in a cave to the north. The hero, their sibling, and Singh are chosen to retrieve it. Arriving at the cave, the party interrupts a demon called Bedora, who attempts to destroy the Flowers of Tensu to prevent their use. Bedora fights the trio but loses. In a last attempt to fulfill his mission, he attacks the flowers one last time, destroying them. However, one of them survives his rampage.

The party is seemingly too late however, as the village is under attack by the time they return. In an attempt to protect their sibling from an oncoming fireball, the Hero unknowingly casts a spell long thought to have been lost to history; the ability to surpass time. The hero's sibling is safe, though is teleported elsewhere. A monster witnessed the event and quickly notifies his master, Dread Lord Negel, who was supervising the attack. Nergel apparently kills both the Hero and Singh with a fire spell and to assure that the Hero won't rise again he places a dark seal covering the central continent of Astortia, Rendaashia; trapping all its inhabitants in the deepest darkness.

Kame-sama, which survived the siege of Eteene thanks to its magic powers, uses a spell that splits the soul of the hero from their corpse and transports it to the Heavenly Shrine where they are given the option of being born again but as a member of one of the citizens of the Five Tribes.

Extended campaign
start
In an unknown grassland a man was chasing a woebergine knife in hand, however when he is about to catch the monster he trips with something and falls to the ground, causing the monstruous aubergine to flee. By looking back where he tripped he found a human body, the Hero's sibling. While Isshou was scolding them the sibling gained consciousness again, however since now the player is controlling them he didn't show any trace of his cheerful and carefree personality. Isshou left running again, still searching for the woebergine and left the sibling alone in the grassland.

The sibling, then, headed to the north, to the coast town of Narubia. During the exploration a particular house caught their attention, it has an icon with a silver pot decored with jewels on it, inside there was the pot of the sign (which is actually the alchemy pot and a sleepy girl in one of the beds nearby. Isshou entered the house when the sibling tried to touch the alchemy pot, while talking to them Isshou realized that the interest of the Hero's sibling in alchemy and gave him a recipe book and the recipe of the strong medicine. After alchemizing one strong medicine, Isshou revealed his true intentions about letting the sibling use the alchemy pot: to synthesize one merazo medicine so he can finally treat his daughter's illness, the girl that was at that moment lying in the bed.

After obtaining the ingredients in the grassland and brewing the medicine, the sibling gave it to Isshou who would then utilize it with the girl. As soon as this was done, Ririoru showd immediate signs of improvement and Isshou invited the sibling to sleep in his house. At the next morning Ririoru was showed to have recovered from her illness and thank the sibling for saving her and Isshou asks if he needs something in exchange, when hearing this the sibling ask them if they've known about a village called Eteene. Ririoru reacted to the name of the village and ran to another point of the room where a scalet box was kept, she came back with the box, opened it and took in her hands a bottle and a letter. She then gave the bottle to her father and read the letter to the Hero's sibling, in the letter it was written about a mythical town called Eteene where magic rituals were made, something Isshou found ridiculous and said that all of that was nonsense, this triggered Ririoru and they started arguing, although Ririoru won and her father had to change his opinion. After the discussion Isshou gives the blue shrine key to the sibling and tells them that somewhere in the grasslands there are seven mythical shrines hidden and that the key that he had given them opens the door of the first of them, the Blue shrine. By opening all the shrines and passing the trails inside of them, the path to Eteene would be opened. Once one shrine has been completed by the player, they can obtain a material needed to forge the key of the next one by alchemy. After completing the last shrine, the golden shrine, the Hero's sibling unlocks a door at the back of it and it, surprisingly, leads to the north of the Eteene region, the Unnamed field of flowers.

The Hero's sibling arrived again to Eteene and the village wasn't destroyed anymore, however he didn't know the identity of the inhabitants of the village and their house was now an Inn. Confused he goes to the church to talk to lady Abba, however a guard interrumpted them and told them that they had to offer a perky bean to enter to the church. Once the bean is received by the guard she enters to the church and, a turmoil later, she exits the church worried and a flash of light throws her to the ground. This flash of light also awakens Kame-sama, which was sleeping in its stall. Another woman exits the church, it's Lady Abba; or at least it looks like her, but she really is lady Elba. She congregates all the villagers in front of the church and they start to cheer when she presents another person, a little white-haired girl who exits the church escorted by another kid. This girl introduced herself as Abba and showed to the village the bean she had received. Lady Elba scolded her for making the villagers waste their time, so Abba presents the Hero's sibling as the person who had introduced perky beans to the agriculture of Eteene and then she told the crowd that the reunion is over. After a little chat with Abba, the sibling understood that when they were saved by the Hero during the destruction of Eteene, they were actually sent 100 years to the past and sadly they sent a prayer to they brother/sister knowing that they would be never reunited again.
Version 1: Awakening of the Five Tribes
Plot
start
The Online Mode begins with the hero's soul being transported to a shrine where you ultimately decide which of the 5 tribes (Ogre, Weddie, Dwarf, Puklipo, and Elf) you would like to play as. As soon as your character design is finished, the hero's soul enters the body of the character you designed, which was originally just a corpse. After collecting 6 out of 10 Key Emblems, a sage attempts to create a bridge leading to Nelgel's lair. When it fails, he decides to separate the hero's soul from the body he/she was inhabiting in a desperate attempt to try another method. This proves to be successful, as the protagonist then meets the body's original owner. The hero's mission is made clear when he/she realizes that a sacred vessel called the Ark of the Heavens is the only thing that can penetrate Nelgel's defenses. The hero then travels 500 years into the past, where the Ark of the Heavens was last used in recorded history. After fighting Razban, a demon bent on bringing Nelgel to life, the hero forges a friendship bond with a young boy who knew the secret to using the Ark of the Heavens. Returning to the present, the hero entered Nelgel's lair, and after a long battle, emerged successful. After the ending credits roll by, the hero is greeted by the sage from before, who informs him/her that despite Nelgel's defeat, the seal he had on Rendashia was still active.
Jasper is a major antagonist in Dragon Quest XI. He is known as the cold-blooded strategist of the Kingdom of Heliodor.

Appearance
Jasper is an attractive young man with cruel features. He has fair skin, small yellow eyes, and chin-length light blond hair with some of the fringe covering the right side of his face and a long ponytail that goes down to his waist. He wears an ornate suit of silver and gold knight's armor over chainmail, white trousers, and a white pair of boots. Attached to his armor is a long white cape with red lining that reaches down to his feet. Emblazoned on the front of his armor's breastplate is a golden two-headed eagle, which is the symbol of Heliodor.

Personality
Jasper is a ruthless tactician and is skilled in the art of war. He is known for his accurate judgement and decisiveness and has achieved many victories due to his skill, such as securing victory against a large army of monsters with only a small force. However he is also an immensely cruel and evil man who will stoop to such vile actions as cursing a child and imprisoning a city with the help of an ancient witch, just to achieve his goals. These goals are, in truth, to aid Mordegon in his plot. Jasper is childhood friends with Hendrik, both undergoing knighthood training at the same time, but Jasper bears a jealous streak towards his him for being more well-liked, to the point that he wishes to see his 'friend' dead.
