The hardwood headwear is a piece of headwear in the Dragon Quest series, first introduced in Dragon Quest IV. It is a low-level piece of headwear that can be equipped by many characters, and was originally an ornately carved piece of wood before transitioning into the modern design's resemblance to a plain stump.

Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation[edit | edit source]
The hardwood headwear has a defence bonus of +6. It can be equipped by the Hero, Warriors, Priests, Merchants, Gadabouts, Thieves, and Sages. One can be found in Dreamer's Tower in a chest locked behind a door that can be opened with the thief's key. Hardwood headwear can also be purchased in Khoryv's item shop for 140 gold. It only appears in remake versions of the game.

Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen[edit | edit source]
The hardwood headwear has a defense bonus of +6. It can be equipped by everyone except Maya and Borya. Tom Foolery has this among his equipment.
It can be purchased for 120 gold coins, and sold for 90. Tessie will sell it at Torneko's shop for 180.
Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride[edit | edit source]
Hardwood headwear has a defense bonus of +6 and can be bought for 120 gold. The Hero, Harry, and Sancho can equip it.
Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation[edit | edit source]
Ther headwear increases defence by +6 and decreases style by -15. It can be equipped by the Hero, Carver, Nevan, Amos, Terry, and Lizzie. It is sold in Weaver's Peak, Somnia, and Port Haven for 120 gold.
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past[edit | edit source]
The hardwood headwear has a defense bonus of +6, but decreases style by 15. It can be equipped by the Hero, Kiefer, Sir Mervyn, and Aishe. It can be purchased in Emberdale in the present for 120 gold.
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined[edit | edit source]
The hardwood headwear increases defence by 8 when equipped. The Hero, Kiefer, Aishe, and Sir Mervyn can equip it. It can be purchased for 120 gold coins and sold for 60. It can be purchased in Emberdale, in both the past and the present. It can also be obtained in the past day Pilgrim's Rest by playing the Lucky Panel minigame. Magic marionettes can also drop it.
